Abstract

Receptive language skills are fundamental competencies that play a crucial role in improving individual literacy. However, limited reading ability and comprehension remain significant challenges across formal and non-formal education settings. This article aims to describe the integration of literacy training and speed-reading strategies as an effort to strengthen receptive language skills. The study employed a library research method using a qualitative descriptive approach by analyzing relevant scholarly literature on literacy training, speed reading, and receptive language skills. The findings indicate that literacy training contributes to the development of basic literacy competencies, while speed-reading strategies, including skimming and scanning, enhance reading efficiency without reducing comprehension. The integration of these approaches creates a more systematic, contextual, and adaptive learning model that strengthens learners’ ability to comprehend information, improves reading effectiveness, and supports the continuous development of receptive language skills. Therefore, integrating literacy training with speed-reading strategies can serve as an alternative approach for developing literacy programs in both formal education and community education.
